Philip Hardin, a former executive of Emdeon and WebMD Dental, is taking his technology expertise to the employment sector, with plans to launch YouScience later this year.
YouScience, which recently raised $5.27 million in equity, according to recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, focuses on helping high school and college students determine a career track based on their strengths and interests.
“College is terribly expensive and no longer guarantees a career for a graduate,” Hardin said. “We intend to help young people achieve the objective of becoming a productive, independent adult in the career of their choice.”
The service targets those ages 16 to 25, when students are making important financial decisions about education and career tracks. It is more than a survey, but is based on work samples and scientifically valid assessments, Hardin said.
Additionally, YouScience provides guidance to help individuals obtain jobs in those careers that best fit them.
“If we can help them and their parents make more informed decisions and be better buyers of education, we have created substantial value for them,” he said.
