Students were making major life decisions based on self-reflection and outside opinions, without objective data about their strengths. Career readiness efforts lacked consistency, and academic achievement and CTE were often treated as separate priorities.

Solution
Murrieta Valley USD implemented the full YouScience Brightpath platform to build a districtwide, data-driven career-connected learning model.
They made two critical shifts:
- Every ninth-grade student completes Aptitude and Career Discovery and builds a personalized 10-year plan aligned to the district’s Profile of a Graduate requirements
- Aptitude data informs course placement, CTE enrollment, industry certifications, work-based learning, and counseling conversations systemwide
This created a connected system where student strengths directly guide academic and career pathways.
Results
Stronger academic performance for CTE completers:
- 27% higher English performance vs state targets
- 34% higher math performance vs state targets
- 29% higher science performance vs state targets
Expanded certification and experiential learning impact:
- 19,000+ industry certification exams administered since 2018
- 8,267 work-based learning hours completed in 2024–25
- 749 students earned college credit through CTE in 2024–25
Scaled district wide adoption:
