You’re learning some cool stuff…but how does it all connect to the real world?

Getting your first job can be tough when it feels like you’re lacking what employers want most – experience. The good news? Certifications earned from your school courses show employers you have the skills they’re looking for. Use the skills and knowledge you’ve learned in class to help your resume stand out from the crowd!

What is an industry-recognized certification?

CERTIFICATIONS 101

Here’s how it works:

  1. Employers from various industries share with us (and other certification companies) the skills and knowledge they expect and need from employees.
  2. Working with experts in those industries, along with teachers, we create exams with real-world scenarios that measure the things employers are looking for
  3. You take classes, learn the skills, pass the exams – and bam! You can now demonstrate that you have what it takes to be the next great hire

HOW TO GET CERTIFIED

Career clusters

YouScience works with schools throughout the country to provide industry-recognized certifications across all 16 National Career Clusters as well as 21st Century Skills. Ask your teacher if these certifications are available in your school! The best part? We provide the standards covered on the exam – think of them as the ultimate study guide!  Feel free to look through the courses and review content.

IT ALL ADDS UP

Student organizations

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) like BPA, HOSA, FFA, FCCLA, are great for getting real-world experience, making connections, and creating an impressive resume. But, did you know that the classes you’re taking as part of these organizations also provide the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications? Make the most of your opportunities and build an impressive resume!

Stackable credentials are an excellent way to build your base knowledge and show your enthusiasm for a career pathway. Within your programs, you can earn more than one certification, and each builds on the next. You earned a Dental Science I certification? Why not take Dental Science II and III to prove your expertise?! These credentials add value to your resume and provide employers with a complete picture of your mad skills!

BE A SHOW-OFF

Resume building

We know building your resume can be intimidating, but we’ve got you covered. On the back of each certification is a list of relevant and valuable skills you‘ve learned. Include these statements, along with any CTSOs or other work experience, on your resume and increase your odds of getting your resume to the top of the stack!

Pro tip: Hiring managers care more about your knowledge and skills than your major or where you went to school.
